“Be the Village” for a Neighbor!
The next volunteer training is February 11, 2017 12:30-3:30
Cheverly has always been full of good neighbors. It’s not unusual to hear that someone is helping a neighbor—for example, clearing snow, doing shopping or helping with occasional chores. This
Cheverly Village builds on this fundamental neighborliness, while providing the structure and volunteer training to ensure that members can request a wide range of services without feeling that they are imposing on anyone, and Cheverly Village volunteers can make themselves available for the types of service they most enjoy at the times they find convenient.
Cheverly Village volunteers provide members many types of services, which range from companionship in doing exercises to errands and rides to medical appointments. All volunteers receive a 3-hour training course that covers Village procedures, dos and don’ts, and safe ways to assist seniors to stand, walk, and go up stairs, among other topics. Volunteers also undergo a criminal background check.
To sign up for training as a Cheverly Village volunteer and to learn about volunteering, please either fill out the Volunteer Application online at CheverlyVillage.org/volunteer, or contact Volunteers@CheverlyVillage.org, or call the Village at 240 770 1033. We would love to welcome you to our next training session, which is Saturday, February 11, 12:30-3:30 at Cheverly United Methodist Church!
